Al Jazeera Host Femi Oke To Anchor Social Media Week Lagos

VENTURES AFRICA – As Lagos, Nigeria’s economic capital, hosts Africa’s largest Social Media gathering, Femi Oke, host of Al Jazeera English ‘The Stream’, has been announced as a keynote speaker and panel host.

The former Nigerian Media Personality of the year will speak on her show, ‘The Stream,’ a daily television program that uses social media as an avenue to disseminate news and tap into the amazing abilities of individuals.

She will also host a panel that will address the connection between global health, technology and social media, using Al Jazeera’s upcoming series, ‘Lifelines,’ as an example.

Femi is a seasoned speaker who is a go-to moderator for international bodies such as European Union, World Bank and United Nations.

She has handled important speaking engagements such as hosting International Women’s Day for the UN Secretary, General Ban Ki Moon, compered a celebration with Africa’s two female heads of state, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and President Joyce Banda, at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly and moderated the first United Nations panel of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Aung San Suu Kyi’s, following release from house arrest.

The Social Media Week is a network of internationally held biannual conference provides a global platform for individual, organisations and entrepreneurs to connect and interact with experts on the emerging trends in social media and how it can be utilized to improve the economy and governance.

The Social Media Week (SMW) Lagos is scheduled to hold from the 17th to the 21st of February.

According to the SMW Lagos website, the event promises to be “a new experience that’s more social, more interactive, and more productive.”
