VENTURES AFRICA – On Tuesday, Symantec Corporation and Internet Solutions Kenya announced a partnership that will facilitate the marketing of Symantec.cloud’s hosted range of security services in Kenya and the East African region.
The partnership is similar to the successful model in South Africa.
According to the statement, the partnership will see Internet Solutions Kenya become Symantec.cloud’s Kenya market route. A dedicated Symantec Software as a Service (SaaS) data centre will also be hosted on Internet Solutions’ infrastructure.
Internet Solutions clients in Kenya will have access to Symantec.cloud’s hosted security solutions such as Symantec’s Email AntiSpam.cloud and AntiVirus.cloud, Email Encryption.cloud, and Email Archiving.
The Managing Director of Internet Solutions Kenya Loren Bosch stated that the company has become its clients’ trusted advisors, necessitating the need to give customers the very best in technology in line with latest international best practices.
“Increasingly, clients are looking to us to provide them with an integrated suite of IT solutions that are easy to implement and require little or no IT resources to manage. They want us to be their trusted advisor and supply the very best technology and performance available globally,” he said.
While presenting SaaS solutions, he said it presents instant benefits to the company’s clients. According to him, Symantec cloud’s hosted security solutions will offer a broad range of relevant services including email archiving, with rigorous service level agreements, to provide additional confidence and performance assurance.
In related news, Symantec issued Internet Security Threat Report Volume 17 earlier this year. The report showed that on a global level, the number of malicious attacks continues to increase by 81 percent. The report also highlights that organizations of all sizes are affected by advanced targeted attacks which are spreading to variety of personnel.
The security report noted that with the increasing rise in the number of threats and large volumes of spam, it has become imperative for businesses of all sizes to protect their infrastructures with packages like Saas solutions.
Solutions Architect for Symantec, Marc Dijkstra is also excited about the partnership with Internet Solutions Kenya. According to him, the partnership will introduce the performance and simplicity of SaaS solutions and make them available to Kenyan businesses.
He also noted the receptive nature of Kenyan businesses towards cloud services which he said, will cause an increased usage of SaaS security solutions in Kenya and the entire East Africa region.
Embracing the use of SaaS gives organizations full protection and information management without overstretching resources. Furthermore, since there is no need for hardware or software purchase and regular maintenance with Symantec.cloud hosted service; Kenyan businesses can quickly deploy the services to achieve immediate benefits. Also, upgrades are automatic; this ensures that protection is up to date.
It should be noted that Skeptic™ technology powering the service has a proven track record for detecting known and unknown threats, and for protecting corporate networks against such threats. It is also reputed for its world-class level of service effectiveness.
The Symantec portfolio of SaaS solutions will be made available to Internet Solutions Kenya clients with the Symantec.cloud email filtering and archiving solutions, thus forming the foundation layer of the Internet Solutions-hosted offerings.
