VENTURES AFRICA- Financial Times has released the latest annual edition of the best business schools in the world. The survey presents a global benchmark for providers of executive education.
In Africa, the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) ranked the best African business school on the list, followed by the Lagos Business School and then the University of Stellenbosch Business School, South Africa.
GIBS has been on the list for the last nine consecutive years since the thirteen years when the list was first released. On the other hand, the Lagos Business School, which ranked 54 globally and emerged as the second best in Africa featured on the list for the sixth consecutive time.
The survey was carried out by compiling data from two sources – one from the school and the other from top clients of the school. The schools were asked for the details of their top clients- these clients were then asked to fill in a data online with questions about the school that nominated them.
For GIBS, its top clients were from the South African corporate companies and top multinationals operating in Africa and abroad.
“This is a tremendous achievement for GIBS and clearly places us among the best business schools in the world. We live by our ethos of aiming to significantly improve the competitive performance of individuals and organisations through business education and this accolade will drive us to continue to improve our programmes even further in line with the ever changing economic landscape,” GIBS Dean, Professor Nick Binedell, said.
“Business schools play an increasingly significant role in today’s fast-paced, dynamic world and it is important to get such feedback from executives so that we can ensure that our programmes meet the highest standards possible on a global scale,” says Shaun Rozyn, executive director, Corporate Education, GIBS.
Globally, the top business schools are Duke Corporate Education, USA, HEC Paris, France and Lese Business School in Spain.
